Michele is a Biodanza facilitator with a special interest in addiction issues. She completed the Biodanza school in 2012.

Biodanza, creativity and psychotherapy were fundamental in her own healing process and she believes her experience is key to her ability to hold a caring, supportive and accepting space for participants. She has also completed an addiction counselling course.

Immediately after qualifying as a facilitator, Michele held weekly classes in Roosevelt park, and then opened a second group in Melville. She has danced with primary school children at the Toy Library in Johannesburg over a six week period, and held sessions for refugee children at Sacred heart college in Johannesburg. Together with a psychologist Kenneth Wilson and fellow facilitator Franz Grabe, she developed and facilitated a one day Biodanza workshop for addicts and their partners in March 2013. In October 2013 she travelled to the Philippines to join Kate Clement as co-facilitator for Coke-a-Cola’s corporate training sessions for 3 weeks.
Michele is available for corporate workshops and team building.
Michele currently teaches a weekly class at a drug treatment centre in Johannesburg.
Michele has her own graphic design business Limeblue Design, and practices as a fine artist when time permits. When not dancing, she is a keen yoga practitioner and gets on a bicycle every now and then.

Addictions and Recovery Work

Michele Dean facilitated weekly classes at Hadassah Center for women and girls in South Johannesburg for a period of six months.
The Biodanza class was the highlight of the girls week. They spoke of how tough it is in the house and how they bicker and fight but that Biodanza brings them together and helps them forget their squabbles.

In these spaces working with shame and strengthening the identity beyond that of addict brings experiences of freedom and self expression within the safety of the Biodanza class.
